Earlier this month the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) released its Annual Market Report for the 2011 calendar year. I’m pleased to report that Terra-Gen Power was the top U.S. wind developer for the year (page 28), with more than 680 new Megawatts (MW) online. Terra-Gen’s Alta Wind Energy Center near Tehachapi, CA was also identified in the report as the nation’s largest wind farm with 981MW operating (page 32). We are very proud of the economic and job growth that Terra-Gen has been able to deliver with our growing portfolio of clean energy projects, and of our company’s important contribution in helping the state of California meet its renewable energy goals.

Terra-Gen Power Announces Closing of $650 Million Construction Financing for Alta Wind VII & IX to Continue Build-Out of Nation’s Largest Wind Energy Facility

NEW YORK, NY -- Terra-Gen Power, LLC (“Terra-Gen”), an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners, announced today that it has closed a $650 million financing for the 168 megawatt (“MW”) Alta Wind VII and 132 MW Alta Wind IX projects. The completion of the Alta Wind VII & IX projects will bring the total capacity of the Alta Wind Energy Center ("AWEC") located in Tehachapi, CA to 1,320 MW, of which 1,020 MW are currently in operation. The American Wind Energy Association’s recent market report for 2011 identified AWEC as the nation’s largest wind farm. Terra-Gen recently sold the Alta Wind VIII (150 MW) phase to Brookfield and has entered into an agreement to sell the Alta Wind VI phase (150 MW) to Everpower.

NEW YORK, NY -- Terra-Gen Power, LLC (“Terra-Gen”), an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners, announced today that it has closed a $631 million financing for Alta Wind VI & VIII -- two 150 megawatt (“MW”) wind projects. In combination with the Alta Wind I-V projects which reached commercial operations earlier this year, the completion of the Alta Wind VI & VIII projects will bring the total capacity of the Alta Wind Energy Center ("AWEC") located in Tehachapi, CA to 1,020 MWs by the end of this year, representing the nation’s first gigawatt-scale wind energy facility. MOJAVE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Advancing the development of a major wind energy resource, Google and Citi will finance part of the Alta Wind Energy Center (AWEC) being developed by Terra-Gen Power, an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners and Global Infrastructure Partners, in Tehachapi, California. NEW YORK, NY -- Terra-Gen Power, LLC (“Terra-Gen”) has closed a $394 million financing for its 150 megawatt (“MW”) Alta Wind I project located in Tehachapi, California. The financing includes a seven-year construction and term loan, a bridge loan to the ITC cash grant from the US Department of Energy, and ancillary credit facilities. The proceeds of this financing will be used to complete construction of the 150MW project, which utilizes GE 1.5 SLE wind turbine generators, and to repay the pre-construction financing which closed in July of 2009.

Terra-Gen Power, LLC has closed a $115 million initial funding of a $140 million pre-construction financing used to fund the purchase of 100 General Electric 1.5 megawatt SLE wind turbines. The wind turbines will be deployed in the development of the 150 megawatt Alta Wind I wind project in the Tehachapi, CA area. The commitments were funded by a lender group composed of Calyon, Prudential Capital Group, and CIT. Calyon acted as Lead Arranger and Administrative Agent for the lenders, with Prudential Capital Group serving as Documentation Advisor.
